With a rich history dating back to its introduction in 1958, the Land Cruiser has gone through various evolutions, from the rugged two-door models to the luxurious 60 Series. The new 2024 Land Cruiser remains true to its heritage and offers a high-quality off-road experience at a more accessible price. Built on the TNGA-F platform, it comes exclusively with the i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, delivering 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque. The new generation is slightly smaller and nimbler than its predecessor, equipped with advanced off-road technology. Limited to 5,000 units initially, the Land Cruiser also offers a First Edition grade with unique features. The vehicle is set to arrive in Canada in spring 2024, embodying Toyota's legacy of reliability and adventure.

The Land Cruiser has been a symbol of Toyota's values of quality and reliability for decades, gaining fame for its remarkable capability. Initially arriving in North America in the late 1950s, it started with humble sales but gained popularity with the introduction of the 40 Series, featuring distinctive boxy aesthetics and solid axles. The Land Cruiser's evolution led to larger models like the 55 and 60 Series, the last one available in Canada. Returning after a 35-year absence, the new Land Cruiser in Canada employs the TNGA-F platform, offering increased rigidity and off-road performance compared to the previous 200 Series. Collaborative efforts between Toyota's CALTY Design Research and the global development team shaped its design, focusing on authenticity and timelessness. The SUV maintains its iconic round LED headlights and "TOYOTA" grille, and higher-grade versions adopt rectangular headlights reminiscent of the FJ62. The vehicle's square body profile and improved visibility enhance its off-road capability, aided by a newly developed suspension and electric power steering. With standardized trailer hitches, all Land Cruiser models can tow up to 6,000 pounds.

i-FORCE MAX Hybrid Standard

The new Land Cruiser comes with a standard i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, combining a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with a 48-hp electric motor and eight-speed transmission, yielding 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque. All models feature full-time four-wheel drive with a center locking differential and electronic two-speed transfer case, along with a standard electronic locking rear differential for improved traction. An Off Road Icon

The new Land Cruiser continues its off-road legacy with standard features like a front stabilizer bar disconnect for enhanced flexibility, impressive approach and departure angles, and up to 221mm ground clearance. Off-road options include rock rails, high-strength steel skid plates, and front tow/recovery hooks. The Land Cruiser 1958 grade features factory fog lamps, while the Land Cruiser grade offers upgraded RIGID fog lamps. Standard features encompass Multi-Terrain Select for adaptable terrain control, CRAWL Control for low-speed off-road navigation, Downhill Assist Control, and a Multi-Terrain Monitor on the 12.3-inch touchscreen.

A Connected Cruiser

The Land Cruiser 1958 models seat up to five passengers, featuring black fabric seats and an 8.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Land Cruiser grade adds heated/ventilated SofTex-trimmed seats, a 12.3-inch multimedia monitor, and an optional 14-speaker JBL sound system. The First Edition grade exclusively offers leather-trimmed seats with an embossed logo. Wireless charging, USB-C ports, a palm rest, and knee pads enhance functionality for rough trails. All grades have a standard Smart Key System with push-button start, while the active Remote Connect trial or subscription allows a Digital Key to connect with smartphones for vehicle access, tailgate opening, starting (4G network dependent), and remote sharing.
